Sauna from Finland has awarded taiwanese Karl Chi as the first foreign Sauna Ambassador. Mr Chi has succesfully combined original Finnish sauna experience with taiwanese bathing culture.
Sauna from Finland has awarded the Sauna Ambassador honorary title for the first time to a non-Finnish person. New Sauna Ambassador is Wei-Kang (Karl) Chi, the leader of a taiwanese luxus health club Seth Ascetic and founder of Taiwan Sauna Association.
The title was given to Chi at World Sauna Forum event in Tampere, Finland in 3th October 2019.
Carita Harju, Executive Director of Sauna from Finland network, says that Karl Chi has succesfully promoted Finnish type sauna experience in Taiwan. Previously, Seth Ascetic was the first to get the Authentic Finnish Sauna Experience -quality sertification.
“Seth Ascetic is a brilliant example how to create a high quality, relaxing and healthy promoting Finnish sauna experience outside of Finland,” Harju says.
Karl Chi says that a bathing experience in Taiwan is most commonly connected with spa type pools. Even steam saunas are more common than Finnish saunas.
“Taiwanese people are positively surprised by the quality of air in Finnish type of sauna. The air doesn’t feel like stuffy. We have emphasized air circulation, hot stove to throw löyly and hygienic bench covers.“
Previous Sauna from Finland Sauna Ambassadors have been sauna concept developer Ville Iivonen, Ruka tourist developer Marjo Määttä, Jyväskylä City Mayor Markku Andersson, Creative Industry Developer Diges managing director Pekka Krook and shoe- and clothing designer Aki Choklat.
