Hukka Design, in Tuupovaara, eastern Finland, manufactures enjoyment stone products for various purposes of wellbeing. It has developed stone products into a wide range of sauna and wellness products.
As the ancestors moved to what now is known as Finland they started using Carelian soapstone first for fireplaces, cooking utensils and religious items. Once the industrial revolution came they forgot the magical stone. Iron pots and pans as well as other materials replaced the stone.
But Carelian soapstone was not completely forgotten. It only needed a visionary person with a little bit of stoneage caveman in him to see the potential of the stone. Jokke Ahti, who originally was a salesman, came to north-eastern Finland and decided, that there is still some magic in this stone. Hukka Design was created and from this humble start over 30 years ago it has developed into a world leading soapstone small items manufacturer.
Hukka Design crafts and manufactures durable wellness, sauna, cooking and home decor products. The products are manufactured from a 2.8-billion-year-old, unique natural stone which retains heat or cold better than other natural materials. Hukka stones are good for cooling drinks and preparing food, and for keeping them hot or cold.
Their eco-friendly and durable ‘enjoyment stones’ are made of 100% natural materials. Their sauna products improve both the look and comfort of a sauna. Placing their sauna fountains on the sauna stove enhances both the visual and audial experience. At the same time, the fountains improve the balance of humidity in the sauna air.
Soapstone massage products, based on ancient Asian treatment techniques, draw on relaxing heat. The use of the treatment stones makes the sauna a more communal and relaxing place.
