Press release by Metos Inc. – Metos Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo / CEO: Shoichiro Yoshinaga), which has been constructing and selling fireplaces, wood-burning stoves, hot baths, and nursing care bathtubs with the motto “Warming people’s minds and bodies”, has announced that Tulikivi Corporation (Headquarters: Finland / CEO: Heikki Vauhkonen) held a new product launch event for its new furnace stoves on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
Mr. Vauhkonen, CEO of the head office, also visited Japan to attend the new product launch event and expressed his hope that furnace stoves will expand in the Japanese market in the future. Tulikivi Corporation, one of the world’s largest companies in Karelian soapstone products, has announced two new products named “KORPI” and “PURO”. Starting with the launch of this new product, Metos plans to introduce products that can be used in the sauna and hot bath business as a Japanese distributor of Tulikivi.

“Tulikivi’s furnace stove series is a new kind of product that is the same size as a wood- burning stove but has the characteristics of a fireplace. It has been almost 10 years since we first approached Metos for collaboration, and we are delighted to be able to celebrate this day. I am excited to build a relationship of trust with Metos, a leading company with a long history in Japan in both the hot bath and fireplace businesses, and to help spread the appeal of Karelian soapstone and the Nordic lifestyle in Japan. The appeal of Karelian soapstone cannot be fully conveyed without using it, so I would like to create more opportunities where people can see and experience it for themselves.” – Heikki Vauhkonen, CEO of Tulikivi
More about Tulikivi
As one of the world’s leading soapstone brands, Tulikivi manufactures and sells products that take advantage of the characteristics of soapstone and can be used in major areas of the home such as the living room, kitchen, and bathroom. The soft heat emitted from the 100% natural furnace fireplace is described as “enveloping you with the warmth of gentle sunlight”.
As you can see from the natural curves and warm design of Scandinavian furniture, the idea of “living close to nature” is deeply rooted in Scandinavia. Tulikivi realizes the lifestyle of people who want to live surrounded by organic materials while feeling the warmth of nature. Currently, more than 300,000 homes around the world are heated by Tulikivi furnace stoves.

About Karelian Soapstone
Tulikivi’s mine is located in the Karelia region of Finland. This natural phenomenon, brought about by crustal movement approximately 2.8 billion years ago, exudes a somewhat mystical atmosphere. Of the more than 200 soapstone-producing areas in the world, only soapstone mined in this region is allowed to be called “Karelian Soapstone”, and is considered to be of the highest quality in all aspects, including color, smoothness, and durability. The flames and warmth created by Karelian Soapstone allow you to stay warm for a long time with minimal firewood, making it an item that has attracted attention as an environmentally friendly product.
