Kirami FinVision® -sauna Zero offers exceptionally energy-efficient outdoor sauna experiences – even off-grid

Finnish hot tub and sauna manufacturer Kirami continues to develop its groundbreaking Kirami FinVision® -sauna range. Launched in 2024, the world’s first fully self-sufficient off-grid electric sauna is now available in an improved version with a new name – Zero – and several practical and visual upgrades.

The renamed Kirami FinVision® Sauna Zero continues to revolutionize outdoor sauna culture with enhanced technical solutions. The saunas in the range can be connected to the electrical grid, but a version with solar panels and a battery system is also available, allowing for sauna use in off-grid locations.

The sauna range has been well-received on the market. The name change underscores a greater emphasis on sustainable sauna experiences.

“We are proud to offer the first industrially manufactured sauna that utilizes solar power and batteries. We changed the name from the material-focused ‘Tile’ to ‘Zero’ to emphasize energy efficiency. Our saunas heat up effectively with small heaters and are specially designed for optimal insulation,” explains Kirami CEO Mika Rantanen.

Continuous improvements to a trailblazing sauna

Thanks to triple-glazed windows and a fully insulated structure with thick insulation, the Kirami FinVision® -sauna Zero is exceptionally energy-efficient. The low-energy M and S models heat up quickly, even with small electric heaters – 3.6 kW for the M model and 2.3 kW for the S model – whereas saunas of similar size typically require 8–10 kW heaters.

In addition to the new name, the range includes other improvements. The angle of the solar panels has been adjusted to a more upright position to optimize energy collection. The battery system is now installed only after the sauna has been placed in its final location. A certified electrician is required for this step, but the solar panels for the off-grid model can be installed on the roof by the customer.

“By slightly lowering the sauna roof and installing the solar panels on-site, transportation becomes easier. The product’s carbon footprint is affected by many factors, and transportability is one of them. We continue to develop the sauna to offer a better product and integrate the latest solar innovations into outdoor sauna experiences,” says Rantanen.

New color options have also been added. In addition to the original Oak tone, a glossy black exterior with a coral white interior is now available. The interior and exterior finishes are made from durable tiles, while the ceiling, backrests, doors, and window frames are made of thermo-treated thuja.

“We wanted to introduce a design that aligns more with European style and energy consumption levels that are so sustainable that even a short sauna session won’t put unnecessary strain on the environment. Our range proves that you can enjoy an authentic sauna experience without wasting energy. The steam has been described as soft, just like in a traditional Finnish wood-heated sauna,” Rantanen promises.
