Visit Finland just released their Touristic Demand statistics from 2022 and the sauna industry couldn´t be happier about the results!
The number one googled word associated with Finland is yet again: saunas. But wait, it gets better! Saunas are not only the most googled word, but it is searched for almost twice as much as the second word on the ranking: cities.
The worldwide sauna boom can surely be seen here too, as the Finnish sauna has increased its searches by 63% since 2019. The most interested countries in Finland and its saunas are Germany, the United States and Japan. The interest in Finland from the US has increased by 50% since 2019.
Finland´s touristic appeal has grown over 30% since 2019 and there are no signs of it slowing down. Finland has traditionally been an interesting travel destination for foreigners during winter season but now there has been signs of travelers being interested in the summer season as well.
What is also interesting for the sauna destinations perspective is that the domestic traveling has increased by 48,6% since the 2019. So not only is there international demand for sauna services and sauna related products, but the domestic market is growing as well. In fact the searches within Finland show that the second most googled word is SPA Resorts and the amount of searches has grown by 107% since four years ago.
